Great Location and Zen Space

You have lots of choices for accommodations in Asheville, but our home is so perfectly located that you’ll be hard pressed to find a place that is as convenient and cozy as our Zen Studio!

Arrive to our adorable home and lush, landscaped gardens, and follow the stone path to the back of our home to find the entry to Zen Studio. There are three steps down from the pathway to the door. You will enter the utility room first, where you’ll find a comfortable area to remove your coat and shoes.

Laundry machines are in this room and they are available for your use (laundry soap provided). Please note: This area is used by the home owners that live upstairs and the Tenant in the cottage out back… From the utility room, you will enter the studio apartment to find modern and comfortable furnishings and a fully equipped kitchen and bath.

We provide bedding, towels, and all of the basics to ensure a relaxing stay. You’ll find our Queen-Sized bed to be very comfortable and there’s ample storage in the closet or on the shelving throughout the space, so you can unpack and make yourself at home. Beautiful live plants make this space relaxing and refreshing.

Calming Gardens

Take in our beautifully landscaped yard by relaxing on the stone patio out back. Reed Creek runs along the back of the property and you may see folks enjoying the greenway on the other side of the creek. At night, relax with a beverage on the patio. And if you’re feeling adventurous, try out our outdoor shower.

Our home is perfect for two people that want to enjoy all of the amenities of Downtown Asheville, while having their own space to relax, enjoy a unique experience and have the convenience to cook their own meals. Explore the neighborhood or take a stroll into Downtown. At Zen Studio, everything you could want from your Asheville stay is so convenient and close by!

Guest Access

You will have exclusive access to your private studio suite. The friendly homeowners live upstairs and you may hear them occasionally or their sweet dog, Smokey. Please do not attempt to climb interior steps to the upper level of the home and please do not climb the stairs to the deck outside.

The homeowners, their guests and other Tenants may use the utility room leading to the studio, the outside area and patio by the creek. We will respect your privacy and we ask that all guests please respect the privacy of others at our home and property. We provide a sound machine to assist with drowning out sounds of the home and Owner’s above too.

Other Things to Note

  • Please be sure you thoroughly review ALL of our listing info and details provided in messages so you can ensure that our home is right for you and your needs.
  • Parking is on-street only and we kindly request that you do not park directly in front of the house. Please be prepared to walk a block or two to your car. Specific parking instructions will be provided 2 days before check-in. All of our guests have had no problem finding nearby parking.
  • Our home is older and you may hear footsteps or the dog barking or playing upstairs. The homeowners are kind and quiet folks and they will respect your privacy.
  • Remember that Zen Studio is in the basement of someone’s home. We’ve provided a sound machine to aid in creating a peaceful and Zen space. Please feel free to use it to achieve better sleep, focus, relaxation or to just drown out any noises.
  • Since the basement is below-grade, there is a pump that runs after water is run or when the toilet is flushed. It is loud, but harmless, so don’t be alarmed.
  • For folks over 5’10” tall – Please note that the entry to the studio from the utility room has a lower doorway and you must duck your head to walk through and there is signage to remind you!
  • Also for the taller folks – the shower height is lower and if you’re over 6′, you may need to crouch inside the stall, which can be uncomfortable for some!
  • We provide all of the essentials for a comfortable stay including bedding, towels, soaps, shampoo, conditioner, dishes, cooking utensils and basic spices.
  • Zen Studio is not ideal for those with severe pet allergies, as a dog lives on site in the house above the unit. The resident dog does not go inside the unit and our cleaners are fantastic, but it may be impossible to avoid even the most minor presence of dog hair or dander in the utility room.
  • Cleaning Fee for 30+ Night Stays is $150.

What Our Guests Are Saying

“Very walkable area and host was responsive. Instructions for entry were a little unclear and I had trouble getting in at first, but I spoke to Vacasa and they said they are going to update to make it more clear. Other than that, I had no issues and it was a cute and clean place that had nice amentities and a fully stocked kitchen and bathroom.

“Excellent experience. Great value price! 5️⃣⭐️
Perfect description of property, check in instructions & local recs. Friendly host, walking distance to all downtown local must do’s. Safe comfortable neighborhood. Was initially worried about not parking on property, but as advertised, parking was never an issue the entire stay. We parked at the corner of Elizabeth St & Elizabeth Pl. We could see our vehicle from the property.

Entire property is a beaut’. Zen studio was peaceful and quiet. Upstairs noise was non-existent. Trip highlights included hiking Chimney Rock & Hickory Nut Falls, Burial Brewery, Dilbar Indian cuisine, Duck Donuts, Old Europe Pastries, River Arts District graffiti and Christmas Jam at Harrah’s Cherokee Center. Highly recommended this property!”

Jason, Douglas, GA

“I loved this place! The house/yard is so cute and the location is awesome and less than 1/2 mile from downtown! I walked everywhere, which was really nice. The little kitchen was great, the bed was comfy, and the decor was lovely. Anyone taller than 5’10” or so may have trouble in the shower and doorway. The sewer pump was really loud any time the water ran, but I was by myself so I wasn’t worried about waking anyone up at night for instance. I also recommend using the noise machine at night that is provided (nice touch!) if you want to sleep late, as you do hear some noise from upstairs in the morning. But it wasn’t a big deal for me. I will definitely plan to stay here again!

Sarah, Durham, NC

Great little space to stay and explore Asheville. Walkable to a lot and a quick drive everywhere else. Very communicative with lots of detailed instructions. They definitely put in effort to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Because it is a basement apartment, you can definitely hear the above tenants and the place comes with some noise. They do offer a sound machine to help mitigate that and some earplugs would do the trick too. If you are much taller than about 5’10” you will be ducking a lot, at the door and in the shower. But overall a lovely stay.”

Devon, Portland, OR

“The Zen Studio was fantastic! Really well located, and boy howdy does it make the most of it’s relatively small footprint. Check in/out was easy, and the check-out procedure was not lengthy and time consuming like some other AirBnBs. This spot was walking distance from so many great local business and restaurants. Would stay again!

Zach, Phoenix, AZ

“Place was great! Amazing location and walkable to downtown and had some great places just around the comer. It was quiet, clean and perfect for our stay. Sharlette was super communicative and was really easy to get a hold of. We’re both under 5’6” so the small doorways and shower didn’t bother us ! Haha”

Kara, Rochester, NY

“This spot is so cute! I loved relaxing in the backyard and ability to use the fire pit. The place was spotless and you could easily cook here if needed. It was about a 10 min walk to downtown and there is also a great coffee shop just a couple blocks away. I would definitely stay here again. The host was also extremely responsive to all my questions.”

Amanda, Lansing, MI

“Sharlette was very kind and helpful with check-in / check-out. The studio was clean and provided a great stay in Asheville.

Jennifer, Atlanta, GA

“Location really was perfect! We walked almost everywhere; so close to downtown and there’s a nice walk that leads to an arboretum. Host were responsive and gave great places to visit.

Sachi, USA

“The place was cute, clean, convenient, and in the perfect location to walk to downtown Asheville!
Also – Easiest time I have EVER had in my life finding close & free street parking overnight.
